Eastern Grey Kangaroo,
Macropus Giganteus
Kangaroos are thought to now be found in greater numbers than before European
settlers arrived, although numbers vary consierably due to drought. For many
farmers they are regarded as pests and a legal cull of millions of roos takes
place every year. This is controversial, both because of the methods used
and the consequences thereof, and because their pest status is disputed.
Their population growth has come about because of better pasture and additional watering holes.
This female with pouch young was pictured on the mid-north coast of New South
Wales.
